The International Education Systems group (IES) promotes the development of young people who will have the capacity to contribute proactively to the ongoing work towards a better world. Through dynamic programmes, IES will strive to develop leaders for the future who are collaborative, communicative, enquiring, respectful and creative individuals with a passion for lifelong learning. IES students will be encouraged to integrate effectively in the local, national and international communities through the diverse opportunities afforded to them.

Early Childhood Curriculum
Our 4 and 5 year-old students enjoy their first two years at IES International Helderberg School in a nurturing environment in a play-based, thematic curriculum designed to support children in all areas of their early development. Our Early Childhood teachers have small classes and enjoy the support of a qualified, full-time classroom assistant.

Cambridge Primary International Curriculum
IES International Helderberg School uses the Cambridge Primary International Examinations curriculum for English, Mathematics and Science and the South African, 'CAPS' (Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements) as a guide for Afrikaans, History and Geography. Our philosophy of professional development as part of our teaching week and a deep understanding of international education underpins excellent classroom practice. This teaching and learning allows students multiple opportunities to develop socially, emotionally, physically, spiritually and intellectually.

Cambridge Primary, a highly recognised and internationally trusted curriculum framework, provides our students with a strong foundation for high school and beyond. Cambridge qualifications are recognised and valued by both South African and international universities.

Cambridge Primary English enables learners to communicate confidently and effectively and to develop the critical skills to respond to a range of information, media and texts with understanding and enjoyment. Learners who follow this curriculum framework will develop a first language competency in English based on a curriculum designed to be successful in any culture and to promote cross-cultural understanding.

A levels
A-levels are offered as an optional 13th year program. South African Universities require a minimum of 4subjects at AS level, however an AS or A1 level exam is worth only half the credits of a full A-level exam; as such we greatly encourage our students to continue their schooling with this prestigious course and greatly increase the opportunities available to them once they have completed their secondary schooling.
An exciting program is busy being developed!
