Dainfern
College is a co-educational independent day school based on a
Christian Ethos catering for learners from Grade 0000 through to
Grade 12. We focus on developing the life skills necessary to unlock
our students' unique personal potential and to nurture creative
thinkers with the confidence to become leaders. We believe in
leadership, inspiring individuals, and equipping our girls and boys
to thrive in a modern global community.
At the heart of a Dainfern College education is a values-based,
relevant and excellent education. Our students write the
internationally accepted IEB examination. Since 2020 the College has
offered the Cambridge International A Level programme as an academic
option from Grade 11, alongside our IEB Matric academic offering.
In the sporting, cultural and leadership spheres, a number of
opportunities exist for students to explore and excel. We also have
a well-entrenched outreach programme. As a proud Global Round Square
school we share a strong underlying belief in learning and the
development of every student into a whole person academically,
physically, culturally and spiritually, within the supportive
environment of a caring school community.
We believe in providing opportunities for all our High School
students to grow and learn in an environment of support, kindness,
respect, discipline and compassion. Our tutors, student leaders,
counsellor and coaches provide strong pastoral care and an amazing
spirit and camaraderie exist between students and staff. The pursuit
of excellence is our goal in all we do. This is achieved through the
combined effects of a passionate, talented staff and superb
facilities. At Dainfern College we proudly offer our students "A
world of education ... an education for the world".

WELCOME TO THE JUNIOR PREP
Dainfern
College Junior Preparatory is an energised, lively, carefully
structured and engaging environment where children from Grade 0 to
Grade 3 are encouraged to be curious, creative and collaborative
within a warm and nurturing community of inspiring and dedicated
teachers.
We believe that the foundations of learning, values, character and
relationships are laid in childhood and so we nurture the future
citizens of our school, our society and our world within an ethos
that is intentionally inclusive, respectful of others, and
simultaneously diverse, valuing difference and filled with
opportunities to grow and learn in every respect.
Our school is a vibrant place where children explore and learn to
develop their individual strengths within an ethos that values and
creates opportunities for active participation in academics, sport,
culture, leadership and service. Our youngest students experience
and develop a love for, and appreciation of these areas, as well as
a capacity to further grow and develop in each of them.
Recognising that play is an essential component of childhood, we
work within a playful context that motivates and engages our
children, giving them a voice and developing their confidence.
We strive for excellence in all areas, understanding that learning
involves challenges that develop determination, perseverance,
independent thought and resilience. Each year our students are
exposed to new and exciting challenges.
The Junior Prep at Dainfern College is a busy, lively, exceptionally
happy place!
WELCOME TO THE SENIOR PREP
True to the
College's motto, "A world of education . . . an education for the
world", we strive in the Senior Preparatory to keep our education
relevant in global terms. Dainfern College Senior Preparatory
provides a stimulating learning environment where the dedicated
staff are wholly committed to the guidance and development of each
individual child.
The Senior Preparatory phase is from Grade 4 to Grade 7 in the age
groups of 9 to 13. Class teaching occurs at Grade 4 and Grade 5
levels, whereas Grades 6 and 7 enjoy input from specialist teachers.
This year sees the formalised implementation of inquiry-based
learning in the Grade 4-7 classrooms at Dainfern College - a very
exciting innovation based on the latest international educational
research. The core subjects of Mathematics, English and the
additional languages remain a key focus, while aspects of the other
traditional school subjects are incorporated into a cross-curricular
programme that teaches core 21st Century skills such as higher order
thinking, problem solving, communication, team work and reflection.
There will be considerably less mark-based assessment in Grades 4-6
as a result, and a greatly reduced homework burden on students too.
At Dainfern College Preparatory, we believe in growing and
challenging our children in all spheres - academic, sporting and
cultural. We offer an extensive range of sporting and cultural
activities with something to interest and extend every child. There
is also an extensive Leadership Programme in place that creates
numerous opportunities for students to grow in the various
student-leadership initiatives on offer.
We are a happy and energetic school, committed to positive
educational experiences in the interests of productive, educational
rigour.
