SCHOOL ETHICS – PASTORAL CARE, RELIGION & ETHICS
- Good Choices program
- Say no to Drugs and Yes to Life
- School councilor
- Handling effects of trauma & problems
Ethics are concerned with the moral actions of people; in general, school ethics apply to students, teachers, administrators, and the school board. For each of these entities, a code of ethics is usually created – from within the institution, through professional organisations, or by both. The code of ethics provides ethical standards that people associated with the school are expected to follow in relation to working with others and in the decision-making process. Ethical codes also establish consequences for individuals that do not abide by school ethics policies. The policies typically are intended to create an atmosphere of trust, honesty, and good citizenship.

SUMMERHILL SCHOOL CULTURE
Through Summerhill School Culture (drama and art programme), each child’s cultural skills are developed and explored to their full potential. Summerhill is passionate about aesthetic and creative expression through its Arts Programme. Summerhill instills a high level of professionalism in its students. Our children’s drama productions are of a high standard. School cultures are not created overnight or by pen and planning alone. Culture is born from a vision, beliefs, values, and mission. Culture develops and grows up through an accumulation of actions, traditions, symbols, ceremonies, and rituals that are closely aligned with a vision. Cultural programmes offered at Summerhill Preparatory are: Arts; Drama; Recorder; Chess; Eisteddfod; Giving & Receiving; Drug Free Marshals.
Our Mission is to provide Summerill School pupils with the opportunity to express and push themselves on the sports field; remembering the core values of sportsmanship, playing for pride and knowing how to win or lose amicably. Until recently, Summerhill was in an early stage of development and as a result was only able to offer limited sports to its learners. With us growing, we are able to offer a greater variety of sports and create a deep sporting culture that will leave a legacy and leave a mark on our community. This will require many hours of hard work and commitment from all parties concerned.
In order to achieve this, the Sporting Department will focus their time and efforts on:
- Skills-based practices
It is our belief that if we can cement these values in our sport we would have created a solid foundation to build on.
