About

Cedarwood School is an inclusive, remedial Preparatory School (Grade R - Grade 6) and College (Grade 7 - 12) in the congenial country setting of Glenferness - north of Lonehill - for children who have mild to moderate support needs which prevent them from coping adequately in a mainstream school environment. Cedarwood School is equipped to provide a supportive, non-competitive environment where pupils can regain lost confidence and work to the best of their abilities and potential. Classes are small, allowing the necessary time for individual attention and monitoring by the educators so that children advance steadily, build self-esteem and start to believe in themselves and their abilities. A full range of therapists ensures that all areas of development are supported and barriers of learning removed.

Mid main stream private high school we realised that our daughter was happy socially but not academically. She had received a dislexia (processing) diagnosis during primary school. We were concerned with her marks and decided to look at another option for her. Cedarwood gave the option of smaller classes, additional support and teaching styles based on her remedial requirements. She fort us all the way. “I don’t want to go to special school” which I may add was as difficult for us to admit to our friends that she had gone the remedial route. She settled into Cedarwood and one day after her sharing a good mark she had received, that the kids at her old school used to ask her marks so they could peg themselves above her as lowest mark. Not only is she fairing well, yes it is hard work, but she has 3 leadership roles in her matric year.

Cedarwood College has been an exceptional school for both my son and daughter. In a nutshell Cedarwood has exceeded our expectations in every way. It is a place where both my kids have grown academically, socially as well as emotionally. We were told that my son would not achieve a matric, and he about to write finals. I highly recommend Cedarwood College to any parent looking for a "normal" school that will provide smaller classes and extra support at all times.

Cedarwood has truly transformed our lives! It feels less like a school and more like a close-knit family. My two children attend Cedarwood, and the school has instilled in them a deep sense of self-confidence and belief. They both love going to school every day. Thanks to the nurturing environment and incredible support at Cedarwood, they are thriving and shining brightly.

Truly exceptional school. Highly recommend this school. We have had a very positive experience in the foundation phase and we plan on staying until our daughter completes matric. From their strategies towards assisting children with neurodiverse challenges to their offering of onsite therapies they offer a supportive environment aimed at helping not only the children but the parents too. There two way feedback and reporting is exceptional and we have been confident every step of the way that our daughter is in great hands.
