My son was there from 8 months to 6 years and at first it was lovely but as he got older often times there would not be a teacher. One year they changed teachers 4 times. My son was once "accidently" locked in the bathroom crying his eyes out. I discovered him when I collected him from school and even though the bathroom was next to the principles office no one heard him? I do not know how long he was there for. If he misbehaved instead of a naughty corner or chair they strapped him in a high chair too small for him and left him alone in a separate room screaming and trying to get out. Again I discovered him there. He could have fallen in the chair the way he was struggling. He often spend time hiding behind a tree during break times. The teachers who were there sometimes where helpful though as much as they could be. When going on a suggestion from a teacher to hold him back we were not notified that we had to apply for an exception from the department of education so he could do his grade R. We then had to have him tested at short notice to prove why he had to be held back. I requested reports from the school but they were not helpful at all. I would not recommend this school.
Sadly I have to leave a review which I thought about over and over but feel the need to tell what we experienced. My son started at Little Stars Blouberg educare at 15 months of age in 2018. Everything always seemed fine and in place until 2019. My son started crying and screaming every day since February not wanting to go to school. I was told it was a phase until professionals told me that it is not normal. It got so out of control that even over weekends my son will get a panic attack driving past the school's street turn off. On top of that I was told that my son was hurting other kids and on one occasion after asking for video proof to see what happened I was eventually told that he was indeed hurt first and that is when he hurt the other little one back. ABOVE this I told the principal of this school Soledad that we are pescatarian and under no circumstance is my son allowed to eat red meat or pork. 1st year he was given food according to what I asked and instructed them and then in August 2019 I found out that they have been giving him beef mince at school. Soledad just blatantly told me that if I was serious about our decision on not eating beef or pork I would've made it clear on a weekly basis!!!! This horrified me and shocked me that a principal and owner of a school will be so disrespectful towards a family and Clients instructions and believes. I removed my son from the school and still a month later he is still terrified driving past the school's street. I am so worried of what we don't know. I will definitely NOT recommend this school. Adding to everything my son's teacher in 2018 from his class just never went back to work and Soledad said a new teacher will be appointed which didn't happen a year later still. The assistants which I got to know is really lovely but I am sure there is a lot going on behind the scenes which no one is aware of.
We signed up our kids in this school with the hope that they could learn english and socialize and the principal sent them away after only 10 days on the basis that they didn't speak english. What kind of a school sends away 3 and 4 years old because they have difficulty to cope? That's pathetic and the school failed us as well as our kids. Well little stars, that's one little star for you.
